Here's a You Tube of Doc Watson playing and singing Deep River Blues
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qyQOCJ4SUSk

This is an acoustic song that I have put into an electric band format.

It appears this song was writted by The Delmore Brothers and was first called Big River Blues.  But the great Doc Watson changed it to Deep River Blues, added the fingerpicking style, and made it a signiture song of his own.Hope you enjoy it!

I'm not familiar with the original but I love this. That fingerpicking style sounds so cool. I wish I could do it but I'm hopeless without a regular flat pick.

Sooner or later, I'm sure we'll have a Plugged-in Fest. When we do, remind me to add this to the jukebox.

For a long time this didn't seem to be coming together, then suddenly it did.
The far left and right in the stereo field are two different sounding electric guitars.  On one I played the basic fingerpicking arrangement with some variations, then on the other, I did the same, with the variations coming mostly at different times.  The hard part for me was coming up with some lead guitar that fit the song, and didn't suck too bad.  The vocals were fairly easy (tho pitchy because I don't sing well), and the idea with the bass and drums was to keep them simple and in the background.  (The bass jumps out a lot more on speakers than it did on headphones while mixing.  Gotta watch that.)

Thanks for listening ;D.

Now this is the kind of country blues that I love! Can't believe I missed the original posting, but April was a crazy month for me.

Well done, Rolow - more please!
