I don't know too much of Gary Numan, but I know enough to know that this is my favorite song by him. This is a great representation of that song, you guys should quite proud.

This I like!!!!

Pleasure principle got a lot of play in the us and I really like what I heard.  I recently enjoyed Nigel's excellant cover of Wire's Lowdown.  He compared them to Talking Heads for the way they write.  But this one 'sounds' a little like talking heads to me.

Anyway, its a wonderful song, and a fantastic cover. ;D ;D ;D  I'm going looking to see what Gary's been up to lately.  Thanks for the pointer.

Fine work on the vocals, Green man!
Let it be known, there is a fountain, that was not made, by the hands of men.

Greeny

I have to say a BIG thankyou to BB for this one. It's a song I've wanted to to for a long time, but I'd never get the music and production sounding anywhere like this. It really made me smile when I heard what BB had done to this. Singing over the top of it was a real pleasure! I hope everyone realises how cool and difficult it was for BB to translate all the synth melodies into guitar!

It all worked out beautifully!

lg

Wow! BB the production is outta this world, and
Greeny's vox is the icing on the cake!

nothing is real... So theres nothing to get hung about!

Thanks everyone, and especially Tim for suggesting we try this song together and providing the beautiful vox.  Tim mentioned that it would be interesting to do the main synth lead part on guitar, that got me thinking about what to do.  So I decided that I would try to do everything with just guitars and guitar effects.  Along the way I decided to also put in some piano to round out the sound.  So the main synth line became electric guitar through my Adrenalinn effects pedal.  Then I played the same thing again on piano and mixed the two sounds together.  Bloody hard to get it right, I spent more time on that synth line than anything else in this song.  I think it came out sounding pretty good, not a traditional guitar sound.  I was trying to make the guitar sound a little synthy.  All great fun to do.

If you havent heard the Gary Numan original of this in a while, go check it out on U-tube.  Dandy song, the guy had such a powerful and original style when this stuff was first recorded.  It still sounds great to this day.
