Can't have Punkfest without Gary Numan IMHO.  He started out very punk, his first Tubeway army album is pure punk, but then he evolved.  He discovered synths and his songwriting was pretty amazing.  His music showed the way forward for the punk sound, guys like Gary Numan, Joy Division, adding the synth sound into basic punk songs.  Tim asked me if I would be interested in doing a cover of this great song.  I decided to not use any synth at all.  I used acoustic guitar, electric guitar, piano and bass guitar.  Greeny provided the incredible vocals to finish this so fine. This was a microBR production.  The electric guitar was played through my adrenalinn effects pedal into the mBR. The synth noises are a kind of phaser effect, it sounded good played on the low strings, bending the strings a bit.

I don't think I know who Gary Numan is, but this tune sounds great regardless.

Greeny - great vocals man. Love the harmonies.
BB - If you're doing all of the instruments in this, that's pretty fantastic! The acoustic mixed in there with everything else sounds really cool.
If that's not synth, what did you use to make the effects?

Very well done guys!
It ain't pretty being easy.

Incredible sounding song, top marks Dave for some really great instrumentation throughout, and Greeny's vocal is as good as ever.

Do know some Gary Numan stuff, but not familiar with this one, will now have too look it up having listened to this.

It's incredible! I had this on blue vinyl in the late 70's. It was from another  planet in those days, I'd never thought it would be a punk ballad!

Dave, the playing is fantastic. Tim the vox is magic.

I gotta agree the music here is fantastic. Tim's vocals are always stellar. The piano/guitar harmonic?? I don't know what its called, but it was fantastic. I'm too wondering what you used for effects?

Fabulous production here Dave, I love all the little layers of synths and keys and the the distorted guitar lead. Great acoustic in there as well. There's some lovely bass synth noises going on in there (I like the low distorted noise in the RH channel which I'm assuming is a bass synth). And Tim's vox are the icing on the cake, absolutely superb.

Excellent job, a punk ballad indeed as Flash said!

Cheers,

Nigel
