Hello!

I wrote this song last week and it is my second attempt write lyrics in English. (I got one song waiting for recording - lyrics by me and Nelson). I'll record it in the "near" future...

This is unbelievable difficult to write lyrics in English (it is not easy either write in Finnish). But, I decided take these steps in English...no pain, no gain... Well, I'm gonna sing still in Finnish, too...

A couple days ago I received my new toy. It is Sound on Sound from Korg ( there's a thread on Multitrack Recorders forum: https://songcrafters.org/community/index.php?topic=6913.0

In SOS there isn't programmable drum machine. So, I made the drum track on MBR and imported it in SOS. I used 6 tracks on this tune. I recorded also a short flute solo(yes, keyboard "flute") in the end; I pushed the rec-button on the same time I started to play. When I exported the track in Audacity, the track started at 0.00. I couldn't synchronisize it on the right place, so I deleted it...

Audacity was very useful tool in this project...

This was the first recording on SOS and I'm sure I learn more. I'm not abandoning my MBR, I'll use it that's for sure...

There's a tiny seed of truth in these lyrics... The Stoneman lived once on that island. He made huge stonepiles. They exist still today...

Stoneman

Long time ago
on this island
lived a man
stoneman

He was friend to all birds
he was friend to all
chorus: stoneman, stoneman, your bird is here, stoneman

Long time ago
he sat at the fire
prayed for a mild winter
then came freeze, like a flame

Ch: Stoneman...

Chorus 2:
I spent overnight outdoors
I can still hear Stoneman's prayer
for a warm winter

Thanks for the reading and listening,

Kari

I made another version of this and uploaded the video on youtube. I played keyboards on this and improvised the melody a bit. I mentioned about "huge stone piles"...I don't how "huge" they are, but you can see a few of them on this vid. They are under the moss and on the island I saw at least 25 piles. It has been hard work to pile them up, because some of stones are very heavy.

I heard that "Stoneman" blazed the stones away, because he needed space for fields. The island is moderately small (length 700 meters, width 300 meters) and the soil is very 'poor' for grow any plant. There exists just one small field nowadays.

I don't know when "Stoneman" has lived... The island is protected, camping is allowed... I spent there several nights in tent about fifteen years ago. Later on, I purchased a cottage in the next island. That island is so unique and mysterious that I visit there very often.

All videos and photos has been taken by me (by a cheap digital camera). I edited them on Windows Movie Maker.

Thanks,

Kari

Great Kari, Your English is better than mine. You have got into this new machine very quickly, sounds great for your first try. Very talented in many genres, even JAZZ !!!
