Really great poem T. I also preferred the version

Wow, this is deep. What a tour de force, I can't imagine the Tharek that first joined the community doing something like this. You have come so far on your journey as an artist in just over twelve months. The acoustic playing is wonderful, but the fact that you now have the confidence to produce something like this shows what depth of talent you have. Just amazing.

Cheers,

Nigel

Hearing your lovely English accent over the music reminds me of two things:

1) "Late Lament" from the album track of "Nights in White Satin" by The Moody Blues. The poem was written by drummer Graeme Edge and was read by keyboardist Mike Pinder. It starts at about 5:33 in this video:

2) Rick Wakeman's fabulous "Journey to the Centre of the Earth" album with narration by David Hemmings.

Narration at about 6:30 and 8:10. This video doesn't do the album justice though. You need to listen to the whole thing. It's great.

Beautiful guitar playing T!!  And those lyrics & recitation man are powerful bro!  Wow!  Got some goose-bumps on this one.....

They say that Fear of the Lord is the beginning of Wisdom...so I'm picturing this Spiritual friend that keeps one safe, guides you, enlightens you, an intelligent "fear" that actually is built-in to us....the fear of danger, the fear of the one that can snuff us out, fear is a necessary emotion that must be respected, but sometimes overcome...  there's good fear and then there's bad fear lol

I really dig this man....deep stuff T ~ thanks for sharing!!

What a great piece. The poem alone is outstanding but the guitars just sent it over the top. I loved the Spanish sounding guitar playing really low. Some really beautiful pictures, I bet you had a ball and it seemed to be a great environment for creating and contemplation.
Excellent work, Tharek
Keep pushing forward.
ps. I just listened to the instrumental, it also has so much emotion.
Well Done.

Quote from: AndyR on April 08, 2010, 04:28:57 PMI listened to the instrumental version first, while I read the poem.

I have to admit that I preferred the version with the recitation. I liked the instrumental on its own, and I love the meaning in the words... but I don't really "get" poetry - I don't hear it with a voice in my head. When I listened to the spoken version I got a lot more out of it :)

Me too.  I read too fast and skim too much.  I'm a terrible consumer of poetry.  The version with the recitation got me to digest the words properly.  Must go back for a second helping.
