"Franklin's Tower" by The Grateful Dead - Boss VE-20 Vocal Processor Live Demo

We wanted to do something simple to facilitate a live testing of the Boss VE-20 vocal processor, so this is (another version of) "Franklin's Tower" by The Grateful Dead.  First player below includes the full song, but if the thought of six or seven minutes of the same three chords pains you, try the second player as it has just the chorus with the VE-20 harmonies kicked on.  I think the intervals were +3rd and -3rd.  The vocals are pushed way out front on purpose.

If the players don't work, downloading the files should.

As for a continued review, the unit seems pretty good for straight background vocals as long as there aren't too many frills/inflections (not that the unit would ever replace the real thing).  Since it tracks so well, that's when it starts sounding too artificial.  For instance, it sounds weird when John the Singer (John the Baptist's underachieving brother) would lead into chorus vocal lines with something like "You've got to..." with the harmonies on. Hopefully, you know what I'm trying to say.

First night with new learning curve.  Jury is still out, but it seems pretty good thus far.  I definitely like it as a pre-amp with its own phantom power.  The EQ, reverbs, delay, etc. are all nice and warm.  Vocals through the unit sound pretty lush to my ears.

Peace.

Also notable from last night is the new guitar with which Everett surprised us.  He built it over the last three months.  He has the first solo with a coil tap switch engaged.  I may commission one as it turned out great.

Not sure what the deal is other than I think it's an issue with Internet Explorer maybe (I use Firefox and it seems to work fine). Did you try downloading it and then playing from the hard drive?  That usually does the trick.

Sorry about that.  Your effort is appreciated.

No need for a hung jury Blooby, I believe it adds a nice richness
to the chorus! I vote yea.
Great jam too by the way. I love listening to your band!

These days I merely dabble at being old and wise.
But I swear, I used to absolutely excel at being young and stupid.

Great jam. I can't say that I'm a huge Grateful Dead fan but I enjoyed listening to this.

I think it would work best for a single backup singer who wants to sound like three rather than a lead singer who wants to add some virtual backup singers. Then, for example, the lead singer could sing "You've got to roll away the dew" (without the VE-20) while the backup singer only sings "roll away the dew" and the VE-20 adds harmonies.
