Yes, it's easier and more accurate to do the fades in a DAW. But it's good to know how to do them on the BR too, since a DAW may not always be available.

If all else fails, I'll just leave the song hanging on a final strum - like I do in the pub!

To be honest, I tend to use fades to bow out gracefully when I haven't thought out a proper ending! Pure laziness....

I was worrying over nothing. The BR is doing everything I need, and better than my old Tascam. Fade outs are easy using the master volume level during mastering, and the drum patterns are getting easier to manipulate. What a lovely piece of kit.
