This is a prototype. No info on availability or price.

  • 24 tracks
  • 8-track simultaneous recording
  • Drum pads and programmable drum machine

I wish they'd included better level meters. Those 4-segment LEDs are pretty bad compared to the hi-res, peak-hold level display on the Boss BR-800. And it would seem that there are no v-tracks or midi, although it's too early to say for sure.

The R24 looks pretty similar to their R16 except they've added an extra bank of 8 tracks and the drum pads.

Does the sampler/sequencer of the R24 allow one to import samples so we can create our own drum kit?
If so, this could be interesting competition for the BR-800 (although the latter will still have the GT-10 effects..........)

Nah, this is where technology departs from functionality. 2 tracks sharing the same physical fader is bad enough, but 3!!! Save yer money for something you won't throw at the wall.

It looks like it has time-stretching for loops.  I guess you can assign loops to tracks, and set your own tempo.  (Possibly the sequencer also).  If they don't allow importation of sound samples for drum kits, though, I'd be surprised, since it seems the technology is there to do so.

(I wish Boss had included time stretching for loops in the BR-800.  WHEN is someone going to do Ableton Live in a handy portable package like that?.:-)  Oh, I have my laptop and NanoKontrol....

Was waiting to hear more about this... Thanks for the info 64G! ;)

Think I'll stick with my BR-600... at least until the BR-800 comes out.
