Afternoon's Shine (my first lyrics in English)

Hello my friends!

Here is my first lyrics in English.  Finally I completed this song. I have strummed this long long

time and a couple days ago I wrote the lyrics.  When I wrote the melody, I knew that mood

of this song is absolutely "summer", so I tried to capture summer feeling into this song. I had

also an another idea to make this by Brit pop style with electric instruments, but I ended to

an acoustic version...maybe later...What else, OK to cover

I recorded this several times and you are right - vox could be louder. My problem is that I lose the melody if I'm not playing while singing. I was very near to that Sony mic and my gtr was about 50 cm below it. Maybe it need still another take on some day...

It is good to get that kind of constructive feedback, thanks to you both!

This is a superb song Kari, your guitar playing in this is sublime and it draws you in right from the start.

Maybe the vocals could come up a bit as they are very strong throughout.

This is a common problem that you are experiencing. How to record the
vocals on a different track than the guitars. Are their any singers out
there who can offer some ideas and advice here?
Great song Kari, I love the peaceful feel to this.

Beautiful song, Kari...I really enjoyed it! It really does feel like the beginning of summer! 

The guitar and vocal recordings you captured sounded exquisite.

Regarding getting vocals at a good level - I don't think it's the best way, but what I normally do is record a rough guide track that has guitar and vocals captured in the MBR mic, and then I add another vocal-only track and another guitar-only track. Often I then delete the rough track, but if it's good enough, sometimes I keep it to blend in the mix.

For me, as of now, this is the most expedient way of getting full control over levels. But I'm always looking to improve. Both hooper and Greeny have previously posted excellent advice on this topic which I would like to try someday.
