That rocks :)

Good luck with the learning curve on the tracking - it's not easy to translate a rocking little combo's live feel into multitrack stuff... I love that sound you guys are making, I hope you can capture it.

I've got one tip from years ago - if you're thinking of using a click track, start rehearsing the band live with one. That's where all the wierdness came from on earlier multi-track demos we did - we weren't used to playing in time "properly" so, added to the "uh-oh" of being in a studio and playing our parts individually, all the songs felt wrong because we were used to speeding up and slowing down without knowing it... but the click track just barrelled along at 120bpm or whatever was required... so we all ended up playing "tentatively"!

We did that for a while, rehearsing with a click, and it really tightened us up (I hate to admit that we found that guitarists are the biggest culprits in generally speeding up a band, but drummers cause problems at the ends of lines etc with the fills they put in). We did it for a few weeks, and even our audiences noticed (and commented ::)) the improvement.

And then, because we'd got more consistent with tempo, for the last recording we did, we did it "semi-old-skool" - we played live in the studio, but only to capture the drums, everything else was replaced individually. So the click track was our drummer (and me counting on drumsticks in the pauses/breaks) - made for a much more organic feel. That was our best recording, but I understand that it still didn't come up to what we were capable of live (that was back in the days before all this fabulous stuff like the MBR - so none of actually know what we really sounded like!).

Good luck with it, you've got a great live feel when you play as a combo :)
