Does anyone know if the BR-800 retains the Toneload function of the BR-600/BR-900CD?

Too early to say for certain. I haven't seen anything that says whether it has Toneload or not. However, Roland says it has a "Built-in advanced drum machine with editor software". The editor software for the BR-600/864/900 supports Toneload. I'd be surprised if they removed that feature from the BR-800. But we probably won't know for sure until they release the BR-800 Owner's Manual. And we probably won't see that until the BR-800 itself is released. But maybe not. The Roland GAIA SH-01 was announced at the same time as the BR-800 and its Owner's Manual is available now. So, we can hope.  :)

Do think it's reasonable to assume that an upgraded 1600 is right around the corner?
