Fading a song in and/or out

I noticed some posts about using the fading in/out technique.

I use Adobe Audition 3.0 software for all my musical editing.
Excellent software for musicians and studio engineers.

I highlight the portion of the song I want to fade, then select the type of fade,
linear or logarithmic, then select the amount of fade time from start to finish.
Press the doomsday button and the deed is done.
Quite user-friendly, and more options than there is lying politicians in Washington, DC.

The downside of Adobe Audition is its price. $349.00 retail.

Worth it if you want high quality results without developing a nervous condition
trying to finish a song that needs a bit of polishing or effects to be perfect.

Yes, I use audacity for everything, the newest version is much better than previous ones.
