The story behind this track: it was a cold night at the local jazz club, here in Palermo, 1978-79 (I don't remember exactly...): the great Barney Kessel on stage!

I brought with me a small portable cassette recorder, so I recorded the whole show. Great show indeed, but at a certain point Mr.Kessel said: "And now, a happy little song..." and he played a couple of minutes of this wonderful...happy little song, that will always remain in my memories. Several years after, when I bought my BR-600, I recorded this one: my little hommage to one of the best guitar players I've ever listened to.

Guitar: my old and BIG Washburn J6
Drums backing track: Band-in-a-box MIDI track, rendered with Cakewalk Studio Instruments drum-kit

Hey this is great. Great playing. Just curious. Did you lay a bass track down with this one. I noticed on the intro... it sounded like a bass or maybe you were just hitting the low strings on your guitar. Either way this is way bad ass.

Man, that's some killer pickin'!! I'll never be this good, so obviously I don't like you very much!  ;D

But seriously, this is really good!

Peace,

Thanks, Alfredo!  :)

This MP3 has a much better sample rate and bitrate than the one I downloaded from the Yahoo! BossBR group two years ago (22050 Hz / 80 kbps).

Cool song and a wonderful performance. It's nice to hear something a bit different here.

Dear friends,

thanks everybody, you are so much kind...I'm really glad you enjoyed the "happy little song"!

Dear Rat-tat-tat, yes, it's just me playing a little fingerstyle (...well, I'm not so good... :-\) with some walking bass on the 6th string...

If I only could, I would play much more fingerstyle, but there is a problem with my profession of doctor: to play a good fingerstyle, you must have long nails in the first three or four fingers of the right hand (unless you are Mark Knopfler...), and that is in fact impossible for a doctor, having to do daily with abdominal palpation...
