Wow, definitely so much improvement in such a short time ~ way more clean; now it sounds like a really cool cover!

I think the mix sounds better matched to my track ~ sounds like the band and the singer are together much more now, great job!

I too am looking forward to you doing some of your own originals that you've written lyrics for!

I had enough time for one more try, not sure if this one is better of worse... oh well.

Hey Mav...  I say this is  a very good first go at it. It get's better and better each time. I say keep on goin for it. The only constructive thing I might add is yes... maybe get an MBR... and keep an ear on the Metronome. Well done Alice in Chains forever. BTW I DuVall did a hell of a job filling Lanes shoes. I was glad to see they kept their sound going on the last album.

Thanks for your nice words, it's much apprectiated.

BTW- I really don't care for DuVall, he just doesn't rub right with me... but that's just my opinion.

Maverick, that's pretty good for a first vocal attempt.

With that sticky-fingers Satch providing support, you cannot go wrong.

Good work.

Laaaaaaaaaaaaaaayne is alive! Hey Mav, good first post on a hard singer to copy and you doing this for the first time. Good satch backing tracking for you too. The only thing to do now is keep going for it!

Thanks man.
Seriously though, I'm not trying to distort my voice in order to sound like Layne. Since never singing before, I never knew what I would sound like, and once I actually tried to sing... that's what comes out. When trying to cover an AIC song, I just try to adjust my singing STYLE, the actual overall singing voice is just what comes out naturally. I don't know if that's good or bad, but that's what I have. lol

No one could (or can) even come close to singing like Layne, ever.

MAV... hope I didn't offend you... I toooo love Layne's vocal stylings and agree that Layne could never be replaced. Just sayin I thought he did a heluva job filling in for someone who was soooo irreplaceable. It was a tough job for whomever took it. I do appreciate that they stay'd with their vocal harmony style that made the AIC sound so deep and powerfull. Kinda like a "Bon" Scott to Brian Johnson type situation. I think they'll sustain a few more albums. You rock it bro.

You didn't offend me at all man, don't worry about it.
I do think that now that they have DuVall, Cantrell does more of the vocals than when Layne was around. When he and Duvall harmonize, Jerry sings a bit over Duvall...

Having said that, I still say that the band died when Layne did... this new carnation should have been re-named or something. lol

I did do another take on this song, but I'm not so sure if it's actually better or worse than the previous take that I posted.
