here you go

it doesn't matter where you've been
it doesn't matter where you're going
just keep in mind
all of the seeds you're sowing
what comes around
goes around
you leave footprints
upon the ground

it isn't hopeless
when you have hope
it isn't pointless
but you don't know
you dont know
what the future holds
you're not alone
no one knows

i ain't going nowhere
till i know your name
i ain't going nowhere
until i've had a drink
nothing really matters
all that much
apart from memories
and the written word

what comes around
goes around
you leave footprints
upon the ground
what comes around
goes around
you leave footprints
upon the ground

close your eyes
ignore oblivion
if you don't see it
it didn't happen
close your eyes
ignore oblivion
if you don't see it
it didn't happen
it never happened at all

it doesn't matter where you've been
it doesn't matter where you're going
just keep in mind
all of the seeds you're sowing
what comes around
goes around
you leave footprints
upon the ground
what comes around
goes around
you leave footprints
upon the ground

close your eyes
ignore oblivion
if you don't see it
it didn't happen
close your eyes
ignore oblivion
if you don't see it
it didn't happen
it didn't really happen

Quote from: oldrottenhead on March 12, 2010, 06:36:29 PMsorry for the digression, i just listened to the original song, wow that guy is fantastic, i then searched the lyrics and put them through babelfish to translate them into english, not a good idea.
i wanna write a lyric for this now, how does that stand legally kinda thingy. uno writing new words for someone elses tune.

Dear ORH, I'm really VERY glad you had the curiosity to listen to the original song: due to the language barrier, it's quite likely that very few, outside Italy know about Fabrizio De Andre': he died 10 years ago, but here in Italy he is still very, very loved and respected. A great musician, probably even a greater poet. And the same I could tell about many other great Italian artists (Lucio Battisti, Ivano Fossati, Fiorella Mannoia, Gino Paoli, Paolo Conte, Pino Daniele are just the first ones that come to my mind...) unknown outside of Italy.

The original tune is this one:

A very beautiful, unplugged, version is by Fabrizio's son, Cristiano De Andre': just voice and bouzouki.

The lyrics of the song: it's funny, but it's just the recipe!!! Of course in form of a poem, but it's the recipe! And since it's in Genoan LANGUAGE (not dialect), even for me it's impossible to understand anything unless I have the translation in Italian...

i could almost describe him as an italian jacques brel, not necessarily his voice or style but the passion that comes across in his voice. absolutely stunning. im not familiar with any italian artist pfm is about the only one, i hope you can point me in the direction of some more.

now gonna give his sone a listen.

by the way if you are up for anymore collaborations you know where to find me.

Yes, the parallel with Jacques Brel is perfect, you're right.
Since you know PFM, well, one of the most appreciated records by PFM is the one live with....Fabrizio De Andre'!

More collaborations?....Mmmmmhhhhhh, some ideas come to my mind...more about it later!  :)
