ELZZZORRO - I wanted to comment on this piece yesterday, but didn't have the time. A few things came to me as I was listening and I wanted to run them by you.

I'm almost afraid to ask about the story behind this one, but, from what you said it's a feeling of loss. The lead guitar is telling the story over the picking guitar foundation.

The first thing I noticed is the lack of reverb. Especially on the lead guitar part. Try putting the reverb setting on about 50, to start, and see if that brings the emotion level up as well. I think it will. You may want to add some to the picking part as well.

Combining these two styles can be effective, but challenging. The best version I know of is Michael Dowdle's song: Until Then, on his From The Hip album.
http://www.amazon.com/Hip-Michael-Dowdle/dp/B000008ASE/ref=sr_1_4?ie=UTF8&s=music&qid=1218378292&sr=1-4 That guy shreds with tremendous emotion. Check it out if you have a chance.

On your tribute, I would recommend you consider adding a rhythm guitar part, or keyboard/organ in-between what you have already. It doesn't have to be dominant in the mix, but will help define the structure of the song. Long sweeping tones to contrast the notes on top of notes sound.

I don't want to be critical. Just trying to help your song, Laura, be the best it can be.

Liked it, nice contrast! Agree with Farmjazz on the verb advice too.

ELZZZORRO

Thanks guys, I do appreciate the advice.

I decided to grab my guitars after 20 years,
good therapy, fun and it does make me feel
so alive.

It is just so unavailable the technology on these
days, this little gadget (Micro BR) goes with me
everywhere..... I have to say so much and I guess
that, at the end of the day, I can say anything
via: music.

PS
I apologize for my poor English....

Thanks once again, Farmjazz and SteveG.
I been listening to your (both) work and it is so
interesting and worth the time listening to what
you have to say trough music.

Best Regards,

Really beautiful song, and I like it as it is.
Laura is also the name of my daughter so I see beauty instead of sorrow.
