Utterly beautiful. I have to admit that this is my favourite Geir song, and as such, was the top of my list for 'other peopls songs I want to cover'. I listened to it several times yesterday trying to work out the chords, lol. I'd better find another one to do now!

This is a staggering version, James. Atmospheric and fragile and all the things it should be.

I find your method so facinating, how you can find the essential 5 notes to unlock the key to a song.  You did the same with the couple we did together (I am going to get off me arse today and get something done on Biko, I promise.  Life gets in the damn way sometimes).  Back to this song, the 5 notes thing works wonderful here.  But it really is your wonderful expressive voice that makes your method work.  If your singing was not as good as this it would sound totally different.  Musical genius I say, there I said it, buts its true, you really have a gift Jim.

I find your method so facinating, how you can find the essential 5 notes to unlock the key to a song.

i listen to the song over and over hitting notes on the keyboard or guitar as the song plays, then i try and find the structure and then the least amount of notes to play whilst still keeping the song recognisable.

i then record those basic notes and then sing over them if those few notes can be followed.
then i just start throwing everything and the kitchen sink at it.
