No worries. Using LIN instead of EXT won't hurt anything. But it might affect the sound of your recording.

Tip: When you select the EXT input, the EX effects patch bank is selected by default. This is a copy of the LN effects patch bank, which probably isn't what you want when using a microphone. No problem. Just press the cursor left button until the cursor is under "EX" at the top left of the effects screen. Then press the VALUE -/+ buttons to change it to "MC". This selects the MIC patch bank. Now cursor right to the patch number and select the desired mic patch using the VALUE -/+ buttons.

I have tried to solve the problem of Micing the Boss for over a year, in the end I went with the Shure 58 I use when playing live.  Then I met with TonyW, on this site, and he taught me how to record using the on-board mic,  This was much better than before, I was recording the guitars far to high, around +5, I now record at -5, and now I can sing over the tracks.

This may, or may not be your problem, but it may help.

I have a Micro br mic that plugs into the end of the BR, I got it at xmas but have only tried it out today I know the vocals would be ok but I wanted to try accoustic guitar, I did this from over 2 metres away and the record level was only 75 ...Ignore the playing it was just to test the Mic....Alex
