Religion and Forum Continuity Do Not Mix

one thing i do get a bit dogmatic about tho is censorship, in my opinion there should be none.

I don't think that's possible. A certain amount of censorship is necessary in any forum to maintain order. If someone posts an ad for Viagra, or penis-enlargement, or whatever, I'm going to remove it. If someone publicly attacks another member, I'm going to remove the offensive comments and possibly ban the offender. And if someone continually puts religious comments in their posts, I'm going to remove those comments and warn them. It may be censorship but it's necessary. The forum would descend into chaos without it.

I too believe that people should be allowed to express their views, but not without reasonable limits.

it is a very slippery slope when censorship creeps in, for it will only stifle creativity. 

i think the best practice is to have a policy that clearly states that any political, religious or vulgar language in the text of the post is forbidden, period.

like marymark said about commenting or not, let the song rise or fall on its own merit.

i meant with lyrics.  i do exercise self censorship, there are a few songs i wouldnt post here  for that reason. but i would be worried if we started censoring as where is the line drawn. if i was a radical feminist i might get upset by osckilo's boobs...........it's a slippery slope

Oh. In that case, I agree. Although, I think there has to be a reasonable limit as to how many times a person is allowed to express the same view. If someone wants to post one or two songs per year about their firm belief in the flying spaghetti monster, that's fine. But if they post such songs daily, that's unacceptable.

I don't think that's right...or fair. I really don't think it will happen but if it does we will all be aware of the content of that member's post and won't bother listening. Unfortunately it's a little hypocritical if you allow someone to post all songs about his/her "lover" or all songs about monkeys and infinity or Chicago or space or Crazy Diamonds or whatever.
