It's probably not Santana-ish, but I'll take a shot at it.

I really liked that, you put that together very well. I want it on my music player.

Thanks, Rod! That solo is a little more down-to-earth than the one I put in there. It has a familiar sound that I just can't put my finger on.

Can't wait to hear some of your work posted here. What kind of stuff do you like to play/work on?

These days I'm mostly playing Christian rock at church. If I had more time to pursue it, I like smooth jazz. I really like heavily rhythmic music like Sudden Samba.

Tnx for reply,

Farmjazz, you are amazing! Thats a beautiful rendition, albeit a little out of wack with the electric guitar solo, which is just a bit overpowering. I think if you simply changed the tones and add some different effects it would sound great!

How long have you been playing guitar? And did you take lessons (and if so for how long?) or teach yourself? I taught myself and I realize now that was a mistake; I picked up too many bad habits.

I love the piece. Thanks for sharing.

Thats why I also posted it without the solo. I didn't like it either.

I've been playing, off and on, for almost 40 years. I figure if you do anything for that long, you better be good at it. I did take lessons early on, but not many. I struggled along, learning the essentials slowly and often by accident. I don't recommend that path. Find a good teacher in your area and work on it. Now, when I teach guitar, I lay it on the line so my students don't have to go through the same hit and miss ordeal that I went through. I'm out to help make way better guitarists than me.

Try getting some other instruments to play on. You'd be amazed how that adds to your musical understanding and helps you get out of a rut. Go for it, Erik!
