Boss Micro BR data lost, help!

Started by pawel, February 10, 2010, 02:03:49 PM

I have lost all my songs that I recorded recently in my Boss Micro BR. I pressed by mistake card initialize button  :'(. Is there any way to recover the songs? Obviously I have not saved the roland file on my PC, though I saved MP3 of those songs (however I believe they will be not usable for further recording in BR ...)

thanx for info

If you Google unformat sd card freeware, you'll find several freeware programs that might help. The problem is, they're usually designed to look for specific file types like jpeg, gif, mp3, etc. Since all of the Roland files are proprietary, it won't recognize them. Still, it's probably worth a try. You might be able to recover some of the files, but you probably won't be able to restore the memory card to its former state before you initialized it.

You can import your mp3 files into new songs on the BR and continue to add more tracks. However, you won't be able to edit the individual tracks from the mp3 files because they're already mixed. Instructions for importing an mp3 are here.

Good luck!

Hey, this is helpful! Actually the song I lost are completed ready to record vocals, so I can still use those mp3s

thanx

1. do not write anything on the card (take it out of your BR)
2. try to make a raw 'disk image' backup (not a file backup), making sure you only read from the card
3. restore your backup on another card
4. try recovery tools on your created backup card, if it fails restore the disk image again and try another recovery tool

I won't have the answer for the best tools to use, but this is the procedure I would use.
