Wow, Nigel. This is a belter. I love the energy in this - a really infectious funky, punky groove. reminds me a bit of the (much more recent!) band Clutch. There's nothing dated about this - great music never goes out of fashion. What a cracking track! And you've mixed it rather wonderfully. Time for a complete retrospective re-issue?!

More than happy to bump this Nigel.  Great song and I absolutely love the Hammond playing.  Andy asked me if my mates and I were as good in the 70's as now.  I think you should answer the same question.

Seriously , this is excellent stuff.

Well I'll bump it for yer as well... :)

WOW! glad you pointed it out... everything has already been said above - including amusing jock/Jock jokes and misunderstandings... Love the bass-playing, whole thing sounds like you all mean it... This has been a very enjoyable few minutes of my life, thoroughly well spent.. :)

Yep... were you this good in your 20s?  :D

(Er, I'm not sure it shows... but I've spent the afternoon working on lyrics, and now I seem to have, well not verbal diarrhoea exactly, but some other word-based affliction... The excellent mix of this beastie, in my headphones, has added to my disorientation... Think I need a cup of tea...)

Thanks guys! Were we as good in our 20s? Don't know, we thought we were great at the time, but sadly the music industry didn't.......

I can tell you we were definitely faster! We had to slightly slow down all the songs we re-recorded because we couldn't play like we used to. I definitely can't play some of the bass runs I used to do (well not at the same speed anyway!).

Cheers,

Nigel

That probably sums a lot of us up.  I guess if the music industry had picked up on us we probably wouldn't be communicating here now.  Or is there a secret mega star amongst us, keeping a low profile until the moment is right to admit he was actually in Showady-wady?

(perhaps I've deliberately mis-spelled that to throw you off the scent......no, the drape jacket wouldn't have suited me.)

It's funny, I thought I was great, but had issues with my bands... :D

But although I had a lot of confidence in myself, I didn't think I was that good...

Now, approaching 50, I'm a much better musician, but digging in amongst the songs I wrote I discover that I was actually far far better than I believed at the time, it was just something I did, and I expected to suddenly be making a living out of it... and it's a bit of a shame/crime that I didn't put the effort in to make it happen...

Trouble is, I couldn't see then, and I don't think I could have done, what needed to be done... there's no way it would have happened without me doing it.

Being on here, is kinda re-assuring, it helps me see how talented I actually am, and at the same time brings me back down to earth because I can see I'm not alone - there's loads of other people as talented as me, who also haven't got out to a wider audience...

I'm not convinced anymore that this rock and roll lark really is a young man's game :D... how we convince the media and the teenager of this, though, is another matter!

j.g.

This is a live band well rehearsed and well recorded. Can hear all the instruments clearly and great playing by each one of you. Going to get a Colt 45 now (the beer version)

Oh man, love the energy on this one.  I love that repeating guitar figure, and the vocals, guitar, and keys are killer.

Listening to the keys solo for the second time right now. It has a Jon Lord flavor to it.

What a great listen and a great ending.

After it's over, it's just too quiet in the room.
