hi guys

I am the new one here and would like to say hallo to everyone. English is not my first language. I hope you don't mind it.
I have a problem. I can't play bass guitar. I want to record rock songs on micro br. Rock songs have usually bass guitar parts played together with drums and rhythm or lead guitars. How can I include bass parts in my songs recorded on micro br. Are there any samples of bass guitar available that I can download on micro br? Do you think tthe only way to overcome this problem is to buy and learn to play bass guitar?

if you have software like cubase, you could record a bass part on your guitar and import it to cubase and pitchshift it down an octave then back into mbr as a bass part.

Cubase or similar DAW is good, but if you can play guitar then you can play bass ... a bit. Just follow the bass notes to start, put a few bass runs in (same ones you would use for chord changes really). Fills will come on their own, if you can hear it in your head you can play it. Get a cheap bass and play mate!

I got to this stage a couple of years ago - after playing and recording purely guitar-based songs for nearly 20 years, I decided I needed some proper bass to throw into the mix. I bought a cheap bass, and I have to tell you it was a total revelation. It opened up a whole new angle and change the dimension of my songs incredibly.

As a medium-skilled guitarist it wasn't hard to pick out a few bass line straight away, and from there, it's just a case of playing and improving as I go. I feel mildly competent on bass now.

Would definitely recommend getting a cheap bass! Programmed bass lines will never give you the feel or versatility of the real, organic thing.

Another option is of course to put the song up in collaborations here and ask if someone will play it for you!! ;D

I would go with Greeny. I think learning to play a bit of bass does a lot more than put a bassline on your track.  It makes you rethink the harmony of the song.  I've spent the morning wasting worktime by looking at upright electric basses on the web.  Go for a cheap bass - bass is addictive and fun.
