Short gaps in sound while punching in / out

The best technique I have found for punching in and out is to punch in before the actual beat (and usually in a part of the song when there is a natural break).

For instance if the measures  I want to redo are 50-52 which is in the chorus that starts at measure 49, I will set my punch in place to measure 48 beat 4 and my punch out to some point after, maybe measure 53 beat 1.5.

I also start playing at maybe measure 42 or 43 and play through the entire phrase so that I am not really conscious of when the actual punch in and punch out happen.  Note I am using the auto punch in/out setting and not a foot switch to do it.

Hope this helps.

Thanks for that Dwardzala....it makes a lot of sense...I use the Auto Punch function as well but using the technique you describe definitely works well....thanks to all you guys again for the help.
