What is the best way to record stricty vocals and to upload them to a pc?

Yes, I am now able to record "sound", but it's going to be a while before figuring the software out... let alone learning how to sing. lol

It's no problem, I'll figure it out eventually.
My problem is that I'm trying to record cover-song lyrics... and I hate the way my voice sounds (I knew that would happen). I think a big reason that my voice sounds so out of place is because I only have backing tracks to work with, and you can't get the full sound of the song out of just drums and bass. Plus, you have to time your singing to the backing track... so there will be some things to work on. Oh well...

OH Mav don't let my silliness disturb you!!!  I am a backing track believer. To play guitar to, to sing to.   What else do we have.   There are many songs. I cand't make a backing track too!!  I just grab and shoot for what I  can!! And you are at a disadvantage cuz you don't -play!!.  But dont' worry , We will help you!!  You have already shown tremendous courage.  You  are a great inspirattion,  jumping in.    I am the worst procrastinataer.    Yup now after the weekend it is catching up with me.

I think I need to get used to hearing myself "sing", then I need to make adjustments in order to do the best that I can to come close to sounding like who I'm covering. In my case, I'm working on Alice in Chains, which means I'm screwed already... trying to sound like Layne Staley is not going to happen, but it's the band that I'm most familiar with.
