Nice little guitar you've got there, 64G; I have a refinished guitar that looks like it may be a Stella, but the previous owner removed the tailpiece and refinished the top to natural. No badges, either...

Hi. When you guys talk about recording a
bass part (with a guitar as opposed to bass) and change the pitch using Audacity do you record just the bass part on say,track1 of MBR then save as wav/mp3 and open in Audacity,change pitch and then play it back whilst recording it on MBR (via line in presumably) and only then start building the rest of your song?

You've got it, mostly: record your bass track, export a WAV and import that into Audacity, add the pitch shift and then save the WAV file. Next copy this WAV file back into the Micro BR and import it as a track.

You can save a bit of time exporting and importing using the free BR Wave Converter software.

i tried exporting in mp3 format at first to try to save some memory. pitch shifted in audacity and imported back to mbr. problem was that the bass track's timing was off. i thought i did something wrong, but when i tried exporting using wav from mbr it solved the problem.

I did the same thing with Goldwave - track exported as MP3 from the Micro BR.
Goldwave automatically converts MP3 to WAV for editing, then I shifted the
pitch down 1 octave, but keeping sample length so it doesn't go off time.
Then I convert it back to MP3 - Goldwave has a nice batch option to convert
a whole bunch of waves if you need it. The last step is importing it back into
the Micro BR.

One thing to remember is that mp3 encoding is destructive, so bits are being thrown out twice when you export to MP3, then to WAV, then re-encode back to MP3.

The BR series of recorders support uncompressed WAV export/import, and the BRWC software that Boss gives away allows you to export and import WAVs much more quickly than the export/import functions in the BR recorders. And much less fidelity is lost this way.
