Just a pleasant little ditty about a post-apocalyptic world. Some heavy music called for here, I suppose.

Bang

The searing heat, in the onion field
Like a million suns, like a blinding death
Rebuilding on a ridge, six miles from town
After countless millions took their last breath

Chaos theory was learned too late
All ego and power, no political will
The words were spoken, the decisions made
The decent was rapid, into the bowels of hell

Looking back across a parched, brown world
That no one can recognize through the flow of tears
It was not a whimper, as it was thought
Not slow and bleeding, but our deepest fears
There was a bang they say, when it all began
It was a bang that brought it to an end
With a sigh, we must begin again

My desk was cluttered, reports were late
The home team won, and my lunch was cold
Babies were born to an elder's fate
With cities laid waste, they'd never grow old

Those whom we placed in marbled halls
To guide us through uncertain times
They sold to us all, with cyber swords,
Their visions of hope, their certain crimes

Anger has long since turned to numb
I count the days, I don't ask why
Protecting our own, we bond again
Take baby steps, then I shall die

Looking back across a parched, brown world
That no one can recognize through the flow of tears
It was not a whimper, as it was thought
Not slow and bleeding, but our deepest fears
A bang, they say, started everything
It was a bang that brought it to an end
With a sigh, we must begin again

There are only three kinds of drummers. Those who can count, and those who can't.

Pretty cool... sad to say, but this could always be a reality by the way things keep going.
