Quote from: Gritter on January 20, 2010, 06:09:06 PMI believe he was referring to the Unplugged musicians of the early 90's...Clapton, Springsteen, Dylan, Nirvana, Eurythmics, Bryan Adams, Arrested Development, etc...but maybe I should let henwrench clarify.

You got it Gritter. Didn't mean to cause such a stir. BTW every song i've written begins it's sorry little life on my acoustic, which has been my main instrument for the last 33 years.
Quote from: Saijinn Maas on January 20, 2010, 07:12:23 PMApparently some of us in the human race have not moved beyond judging others based on some  ridiculous idea of what THEY believe to be the "right" music or not.

There is only 2 types of music in the whole world. Music you like and music you don't. I'm not judging anyone.
Quote from: Tony W on January 20, 2010, 11:18:11 PMThat has a tendency to happen when ignorance runs amuck. I for one don't appreciate being insulted based on the fact that  I have an acoustic guitar alone. And to have it happen on a music based forum?

I can't imagine that level of social bankruptcy.

I was having a dig at the Fat Cat music industry, not anyone here. Don't take it personally. Thanks for the John Rocker comparison. I've read you like porn. No need to ask what the 'W' stands for in your name then.

I'm sure you've figured out that I don't have much stomach for your posts as you are continually crude, profane, and often cutting to the original poster.

I'm probably in the minority of people who have nothing but disdain for you, but I'm waiting to see if anyone else has the gumption to ask you to refrain from language and content that they would not want their kids to see openly.

Your excessive use of profanity is uncalled for, just because you can doesn't mean you should.

If anyone finds this post unacceptable, then I apologize. If henwrench is the kind of posters we're targeting as a whole, then maybe I'm in the wrong place.

I apologize to the good members of this forum for engaging in a personal attack in this thread. I'll try to refrain in the future (again).

Quote from: Gritter on January 20, 2010, 06:22:16 PMIt would also be fun to cover each other's tunes for a fest.
I was thinking the exact same thing too.  what a hoot to take our favorite songs from here, the originals, and do our own versions.   I'm with you guys, really strong idea here.

My vote was for unplugged.  I am not sure who suggested it or what exactly they were thinking, but I take it to mean an acoustic version of some "not acoustic" song, which may or may not have been done as part of the 90's-00's MTV Unplugged movement.

The "One I Love" REM cover fits this bill as does the "With or Without You" U2 cover (full disclosure - cheap plug for my mediocre effort).  I am toying with trying to do a Phil Collins song or maybe something from Depeche Mode if this fest is chosen.

:D ;D :D   Exactly how it sounds!! Unplugged how hard it that to understand.

I voted unplugged, in which I've already picked a song that i'm going to do regardless of which fest gets picked. I'm just curious why when the word "unplugged" is mentioned everyone instantly assumes 80's/90's alternative music??

Just an FYI from an "over-blown, drugged-up junkie pretending I've got 'soul', crooning away to some trash that would've been thrown out by real talent"(ROFLMAO) ---> I've been playing music for 20+ years and for the non educated, Unplugged means that your not using post processing, it's just the raw sound of the instrument(s) recorded with a microphone and most importantly --> done live, not in multiple takes. No guitar amps, no vocal processing, no effects. It dosen't matter if it is an acoustic song or not. What matters is the performance of said material.
