Are they any major differences when recording acoustic tracks? I plan on plugging in my acoustic and recording the same way as electric!!

Thanks!

I have a Takamine classical guitar with built-in pickup/electronics. I use it with the guitar input on the BR with no problems.

i reccomend using the guitar line in and Mic both together (press gtr and mic at the same time) that way you get more of an fuller, organic sound.

This works well-
i also like using my little sony ebay bargain stereo mic.

Anyone have some sound samples to share? I would love to here the difference between using a stereo microphone and using the internal microphone at the same time as the guitar line in.

I'm recording my acoustic through the in-built mic using the 'VO Comp' patch, and it sounds great. Much more of a 'live' and natural feel that the flat, digital sound you get through a lead.

That said, I'm also plugging my electro-acoustics straight in for certain parts. It all depends on the song and what tone I'm after.

Either way, the BR will handle it.

One extra benefit of using the in-built mic is that I've been doing some backing vocals at the same time, and they have a nice distance to them.

When you mix the two tracks together as suggested you can play with the levels and get all kinds of different tone blends when you mixdown.  I use 3-4 inputs when i record acoustics in my 'bigger' studio - When using the M-BR I find the BR mic alone is the closest to the tone I am after, but it doesn't hurt to capture the direct sound at the same time.  I love the idea of capturing backup vocals along with the mic-ed guitar too!

I am still experimenting with other mic setups, but I haven't been able to beat the internal mic... I am building a cigar mic next (based on Hooper's posts).
