I love it!

Great jam, nice mix and the feel just moves me along with a smile of contentment.

This song is like a tight sweater...loose enough to be comfortable but tight enough to get an idea of the splendor that lies beneath.

Thank you, all, for your kind comments.  I especially thank orh for his stellar vocal addition found here.

Gritter, kudos to you as well because I apparently have a thing for tight purple sweaters.

To answer the couple questions, yes, it's my semi-hollow.  I love it , but I'm still trying to come to grips with getting the tones I want.  It tends to clean up quite a bit when I listen back to it. Odd for sure.

Tony, I record with the BR-1600, so all the instruments are recorded into discrete tracks.  Drums and keyboards go direct, and guitars and bass go through Pods or similar devices.  While playing, everything is mixed also with the 1600, and we play either through a headphone distribution amp (actually two) or in this case, a pair of monitor speakers.  I'm able to get a pretty decent mix with panning for monitoring purposes, and the volume is easily controlled, which is nice.  Since we're not dealing with multiple, individually-controlled amps, they're not the normal blast-your-ears jams that most of us have experienced.  And since nobody generally approaches the recorder except me, I am usually the one controlling the live mix.

After the fact, I can then tweak or mix the individual tracks as much as I want, including re-amping, doubling, adding effects, etc.  Generally, though, I sprinkle some fairy dust on the vocals and try to leave the rest alone as much as I can.  I own and love my Micro BR, but for live applications, the BR-1600 is the cat's meow.

Cool Jam Blooby. Allman Bros feel all the way!

I hear ya about the "balance" thing. So much music on here, it's impossible to keep up.

P.S. - It looks like I might be coming to Fla. in March. Do you live anywhere near Disney? I'll tell the wife and kids I gotta go to the bathroom, then I'll sneak over and we can rip off a couple jams. I can probably make it back before "It's a Small World" ends. ;D
It ain't pretty being easy.

Okay to Cover

As fate would have it, I"ll be in downtown Disney Friday to see a Gov't Mule show at the House of Blues. I'm two hours north in Gainesville.

I would love to meet a fellow songcrafter.or(e)gonian.  Perhaps I'll plan a Disney trip at the same time as you. We can publicly do the Milli-Vanilli chest bounce in front of Minnie Mouse and then go back to our normal lives.

Keep me in the loop.

I am really laughing out loud!

8 simultaneous tracks at the same time..... all played through studio monitors...... heaven. I've been beating my head against the wall trying to figure out how to remote the mixer 3 blocks away from the amps so I could actually hear the mix from the board.

I'm new to every musical experience, including live jams. I've got mixed emotions about live jams so far. Seeing how things go in your circle compared to mine... I think a few adjustments will be made. 8 simultaneous tracks huh???? nice

I couldn't leave well enough alone because the levels were bugging me.  The K-mix below has more aggressive sounding drums and some Kaossilator thrown in for good measure.  Rarely am I happy with a mix, but I kind of dig this one for a change.

Just too good.
When I first heard it I thought it sounded a bit like some of the soloing on Beefheart's "Blue Jeans and Moonbeams" album and as if that wasn't good enough you then you came in with some Zappa-esque guitar.
This is the highest compliment I can give - that here you remind me of both Zappa and the Captain.  It's still your own track of course and it is just so, so, so good.
Also your use of the Kaossilator is really effective.  Mixing it with guitar is something I have found very tricky.  Here you have made it work really well.   Incredible drums too and the bass also shines through.  Can't say enough about this piece - absolutely love it.
