"The Great Flerp" - Now with ubiquitous Kaossilator

Blooby

This jam consists of myself, my buddy Everett on the Strat, a new bassist, and a new drummer. Yesterday was our first time playing together, so after we quickly exhausted the common-ground classic rock and blues, Everett started noodling, and we all jumped in. This is a warts and all, nothing edited (obviously) recording of what went down. I would've loved to post something more structured, but our recording of side one of "Thick as a Brick" just didn't pan out.

That would be a joke.

Recorded live through direct boxes and such into a BR-1600. Drums are from an electronic Yamaha DTXpress IV set.

Sorry I have been sparse lately, but much like Wiley and others, I'm trying to find a balance in life right now, and as idiotic as this sounds, the pressure of having to listen and respond to all the music coming through songcrafters.org (so much of it stellar), kind of freaked me out.

To the regulars, I do miss you folks.

Edit: I couldn't leave well enough alone because the levels were bugging me.  The K-mix below has more aggressive sounding drums and some Kaossilator thrown in for good measure. Rarely am I happy with a mix, but I kind of dig this one for a change.

If the players below don't work, the download buttons (hopefully) will.

That's weird, Wiley. Sorry about that. One of these days, I'll have to take a few minutes and figure out Soundclick.

The ad you tacked up at the music store must have been very convincing - Those guys are phenomenal. Free Guiness must have been mentioned.  ;D

Another fine jam session - The Museum rocks!

Peace,

Mark

Well I must say Blooby, that new rhythm section is dynamite.  The bass player really stands out for me, he follows and grooves with the changes like an old pro, and his meshing with the drummer is great.  Great, great bass playing.  Drummer is great too, real nice touch there.  Guitars sing and shine like usual.  Is this your semi-hollow guitar?  I also eagerly lok forward to these "loose jams", its is usually such great music.

Alternate Tunings: CAUTION: your fingers have to be in different places

Great soundscape Blooby. You've got that E-kit down to a science. I'd love to know how you set the levels on all the instruments? Do you record each instrument to its own track, is that possible? I've nearly given up on trying to record live with the MBR. Every 20 seconds an amp gets cranked up. The guy with the smallest amp is screwed 2 minutes into the night.

Man, you never disappoint Blooby !! This is more of what I've learned to expect and love from you. That new rhythm section certainly do a helluva job, and guitars are just the way I like them, freeflowing and tight at the same time. You make it sound so easy!!

More please !!
