This is going to be kind of a funky, rappish kind of tune, I think (is rappish a word?). Still working out the music. Might end up a polka by the time I'm done. Something many of us can relate to...

Toast

I rise with the sun, got no time to yawn.
Bowl of flakes and a shower, then I stumble `cross the lawn.
Head downtown, where the buildings touch the sky
Two minutes late, and I catch the boss' eye

Try to grab a coffee, but the phone just won't stop screamin'
I wish I was still at home, tucked in bed and dreamin'
But I've got to get these projects done, and customers aren't happy
And the boss demands this weeks report, I better make it snappy

I need more sleep, I need less work, I need a life, I'm toast!
If I get more grief, I could go berserk, don't let me near a knife, 'cause I'm toast!
Just butter me up, I'm toast.
Get me out of this jam, I'm toast.
Just butter me up, I'm toast!
I just can't catch a break when I need it most.
I'm toast! Man, I'm toast!

My stomach is telling me that I should go to lunch
But I ain't got the time, it's the year-end crunch
The questions never end, where's this, and where's that.
Piles of paper on my desk, how did they get that fat.

When the day mercifully ends, and I'm ready for the street
I just sit back and smile, turn out the light in my defeat.
I see the boss at the door, "Where's that report, this is a warning!"
I tell him just like yesterday, "You'll have it in the morning".

Repeat chorus

Cool lyrics Frank - I can relate too - being an engineer by day.  I like these story telling lyrics!  Sometimes I feel like toast lol....

Ah, another engineer. At least I'm not alone...  ;D

Working on the music, Gritter. Hopefully sometime before Christmas. LOL!

Thanks for the kind words, guys.

Hey Frank, another good job. This song really shows your ability to write. You took some as simple as a day at work and made it interesting, funny, pathetic and like you said We can all relate" because it's real. If you find a really catchy melody for it I can see it being one of those songs that stick in your head and you just don't know why. But when it's good it's good and this one is.
keep it up.
