MBR Patches

I have been working with my MBR for quite some time trying to find the right spots, get a good mix, and work with the patches and EQ. I have recorded a few things but have not been real happy with the mixes. I started out recording on PC software and I guess I just have gotten so use to having a bunch of bells and whistles at my disposal to find the right sound. However, I know it really starts with a good solid recording of an instrument and trying not to use a lot of fx, eq, etc...

I have found myself trying to tweak some of the preset patches on the MBR to find that right sound and usually end up going back to the drawing board. My question is do most of you here that have MBR's use the presets and/or custom patches for mainly Guitar or Bass on your songs you post? Or what other devices, modelers, amps or musical paraphernalia do you prefer? I've heard some really good mixes and tones from a lot of you that are using the MBR.

Thanks,

Hi... I've only had my MBR since Christmas, but also have a BR-600 that I've had for a couple of years..... my experience with the MBR has been to take the presets as a starting point but to then tweak them for whatever sound I want....

I don't have a Micro BR - I have a BR-864. I usually tweak the patch settings for each song. It might be as simple as turning off the delay (for example), or I might make many changes to the preamp, EQ, compressor, etc.

The patches all sound different with different guitars. So it makes sense that you should fine-tune the patches to your particular guitar. Afterall, it's unlikely that the patch was created with a guitar that's exactly like yours.

Thanks 64. I have been struggling with finding something that really captures what I'm hearing in my head (or at least close to it being my mind sometimes wanders....what was I saying?) and a good tone. I understand that guitars will play a major role but.....

.....I was wandering if some of the good people here (time permitting) might give me some insight or point me toward some of their music where they recorded the guitars with any of the MBR patches and what patch was used, just as a reference...or even examples (clips). I've heard some great sounding guitar tones here at the site.

Thanks in advance,
