Sounds good and real drums are always best  unless you're doing electronica. I like the stereo image you have here, the tom rolls work well and the cymbals/hat are coming through quite nicely. However, for me, the drums sound a bit middly and boomy - the kick and snare lack a bit of definition. I would recommend playing around with the compressor settings in mastering to try to sharpen the mid range and help the kick in the low range.

But overall, it sounds great and it's a nice looking set up you have there!

Cheers,

Nigel

Awesome drum kit Dmann!!!  Working on building an octaplex?

The song sounds great - vox, guitar, and of course live drums - very cool!!!

Real drums sound just great, and you can always tell the real thing from the simulated. I missed the non-drum version, but this one sounds really good.

Wish I could have a drum kit. Oh, and also that I could actually play more than two things on it at once. ;)

Thanks for the feedback everyone.

Ferryman - Yes I understand what you are saying, but this mix is just the drums straight up without any mastering effects except the limiter patch, as I am trying to get it to sound as good as possible before going to the post processing in a DAW. This take was just done on the MicroBR for now. I am glad you confirmed what I thought about the mids and boomy lows, I am doing some research seeing what I can find for tips on this, seems like tuning up the drums differently will make some difference and because my PA is pretty limited for EQ, might requre to buy a small non powered mixer.

PJD1 - Yea, I wrote this song a couple weeks ago while on a road trip, stopping at rest stops and recording it along the way. I am firstly a guitarist, and recently started learning how to sing over the last year. I always loved to mess around on the drums but I am not a drummer, and as with pretty much all my stuff I don't bounce in the drums until the final mastering because I'm using either the microbr drums or fruity loops. My problem is, the guys I jam with have zero intrest in contributing to writing songs, so I have been doing it all, vocals, guitars, bass, keyboards, and now drums :) So ya it's definately not ever going to sound as good as a real band with real players but for now I can record my ideas so maybe someday I will be in a group where people will want to expand on my ideas.

SideEffect - yes I hear you on that, and heres the thing, the problem on that is partially my playing, as I am not hitting the bass drum or the snare very hard. It's too bad you can't update the mp3s because I have already done a couple more takes, and things are really starting to come together mix wise. Still having issues with the bass drum being really boooomy though but it is coming along. amazing how tuning up the bass drum a tiny bit changes everything..

Hey, what a great song! The real drums are a special treat - Wish I had a kit onhand now.

The Hetfield influence is evident - Hope you are not offended by me saying that. Sounds awesome.

Love it
