You should never compromise

You should never compromise with what you're due
You know what's wrong or right and what to do
The look on your face told me a thing or two
You should never compromise with what you're due

Some people can't be trusted
and now you know why

I know that you're disgusted
I can't look in your eyes

You caught me and I'm busted
and now I've had my trial

I've accepted my judgement
and now i know I have to say goodbye

You should never compromise with what you're due
You know what's wrong or right and what to do
I know I've made mistakes - yes I screwed up its true
You should never compromise with what you're due

You started out learing
about the facts of life

You started heads turning
but you didn't know why

I was undeserving
when you became my wife

There's many ways to keep you hurting
but there's only one way to say goodbye

You should never compromise with what you're due
You know what's wrong or right and what to do
The look on your face told me that we were through
You should never compromise - you should find somebody new

This is a work in progress.

I'm currently recording it and working out the music.  It has a melancholy country blues kind of feel (Elvis costello/johnny cash).  I think its a little different because it starts out with the chorus.  I have tried to change the chorus a bit each time.  I still think the second verse is a little weak so I'm working on that as well.

I really like this. It's hard hitting. I had 'heavy metal' in mind as I was reading it, but can see how well it works for a country blues song too.

I like this as well, Ian. Sad story of realization and resignation. His actions seem to have confirmed his own feelings of inferiority; that he never deserved her. Very straight forward, and I think fits the style you are targeting very well.

I wrote it about amonth ago.  It might be about Tiger Woods (singing to his wife), or a situation like that.  Don't worry, it isn't autobiographical.

I'll be ready to post it as a demo in the original songs board in a week or so.

Very sad my friend...
Unfortunatley, I sympathize with your words man.
But from my perspective, your writting is very good!

Oh crap, I didn't catch that, I thought it was about you personally... wow do I feel foolish!

Great song Ian. Strong theme of "Self inflicted Wound" and not appreciating what you have, until it's gone. Great work. Keep it up.
