Here's a bit of a country song I've been working on. Still working on the music.

Montana Sky

He gently slides the ring from his finger,
Places it on the dresser in the dark
He swore it would never come to this
But he's a mortal man, with a weakened heart

He's found someone who moves his soul,
She makes him feel the way he used to feel with her
It's been so long since he's felt anything
Since he felt this passion stir

He remembers how their love once was
How their bond would never be broken
But it's as if he'd been sleeping all these years
and he finally had awoken

"You know you'll always be a part of me", he cries,
the words barely slipping from his tongue
As the tears form in his half closed eyes
He speaks to her, and his soul comes undone

"I'll come to see you under the cold Montana Sky
My heart is in my hand, and I promise not to cry
We'll talk of all the good times, and the wondering why
But I need someone.
I've found someone.
There's a hole in my heart, I need to make another start,
I've found someone"

You think you understand your life, some doors forever closed
But sometimes that all changes, when another key has been exposed.

"You were right", he says, gazing up at the moon
and she speaks in words only he hears
A smile slowly crawls across his tortured face
She holds him one more time, then disappears

"I'll still come to see you under the cold Montana Sky
On the hillside, near the stream, among the gardens where you lie
I remember what you told me before we said goodbye
You'll need someone.
You'll find someone.
Make room in your heart, and make another start,
because you'll need someone".

Thanks, Glenn. Tried to lead the listeners in one direction, then surprise them at the end. I really appreciate the kind words.

Just thought I'd post this very sloppy piano and vocal demo of "Montana Sky", just to give you an idea of what I had in mind. I left one verse open for a solo. I've got someone doing a pedal steel part for me.  ;D Good and bad comments welcome.

Frank, this song is perfect the way it is. If you hurt it too bad with more fluff I'll have to come down and have a talk...  ;D

This is my favorite song you have done - Straight to PiePod!!! Beautiful!

Peace,

Mark

Thank you all very much. I really appreciate the kind words and encouragement. This was just to see how the music went with the lyrics, but I promise to keep the arrangement simple. I'll post it in 'original songs' when I have something.
