I'm following my resolution and this is a long way from the blues..
I find it really hard without the blues song structure..... ???
I've really tried had to develop a melody and stick with it
Unfortunately for you lot its better near the end.....  ;D
It still feels clumsy
What do you think?

I think this is a great backer and you did a great job!!  A great way to start the new year stepping out of your box!!

I like this direction - I love leads that " sing " their own song.

I'd love to hear a take with a real clean tone, more you and less effects, the melody is very nice and would be a case of "less is more"

Bluesberry

Sounds like southern rock kinda, the tail end of a hard rocking song where the instruments take the song out on a melodic way.  I think this works very well, its kinda uplifting and makes me feel all good inside listening.

I think you're trying to hard, to not to play 'blues' licks, to me everything is blues, so just go with the flow.

I agree with your sentiments that the blues is the greatest musical form ever created....
However I am following my new years resolution to add play some non blues melodies and get to gripes with the "modes"......
So I make no apologies for trying to avoid blues style phrases
After all It will only improve my blues playing in the long term...

JC I take your point but this is the tone I wanted on this song ;)

Mike,

This is a great take and very cool tone for sure.  I'm just thinking of what direction you might take with a different setting - an " ALT Take " so to speak.
