depends on how new it is. i bought one new at a local music store here in b'ham al, and i think i paid a little under $350 total. this was a couple years ago so i am sure the price has dropped some. i would inquire about its age and condition. provided all of those are good. i would not go over 225-250. anything more and you can go buy a new one.

the price has not dropped at all. Sweetwater has one for $349.00. so if you can get one for less than $250, you will do well.

I agree with tonesage. Anything around the $250 mark would be okay in my book, depending on the condition of course.

Keep in mind there have been reports of the internal mics on these units malfunctioning, so that is something to ask about. My internal mic problems come and go, and has been currently working fine for the past few months (knock on wood).

See this thread https://songcrafters.org/community/index.php?topic=3641.0 for more info.

I got mine at Guitar Center for roughly $350 U.S. a couple years ago (when Canadian money was almost par), and I'm sure they ar a lot more on this side of the border.
It ain't pretty being easy.

Are these the same as the MBR internally with just more bells & whistles on the outside and 8 simultaneous playback tracks?

Just two weeks ago I purchased a used BR 600 for $162.50 and $8.00 shipping on ebay.  I felt this was a good deal as it came with ac power supply, a set of headphones, usb cord, batteries, the protective cover and the original manual.  So far I've had no problems.  I originally set my limit at $150.00 but since this one came with all the extras I went a bit higher and got (what I think) is a very good deal. Best of luck to you.
