Looking for opinions/feedback on some powered monitors I'm going to try for during the boxing daze ahead if  I can find a good price on them that will not end with me sitting in the dog house.
Primarily thinking of the KrK RP-5 g2, KrK RP-6 g2 or KrK RP-8 g2  (not likely way out of $ range) if I can find them.

My current setup is a Boss Micro BR recorder, Yamaha MG82cx mixer,  E=MU 404 usb 2.0 interface, AKG headphones,
I have shure 57 and shure 58 mic's, and a Roland cube 20x & Fender Blues Deluxe amp.

Plans down drain :)
Made the circle of all three big music shops within 30 miles of us.
All three had no KrK RP series out on their shelves for the daze of boxing sales except the RP-8 and the KrK VXT series, and no sale prices on any of them
All way our of our range for small home recording setup.

Sigh, may go back after they put stock out on the selves again and pay the expected retail on the RP-5 (195$cdn each) or RP-6 (245$cdn each)

Hey there, I noticed the $cdn.  The monitors I ended up getting are the Yorkville YSM2p, retail for $215 at L&M stores.  They are really good monitors for the home studio, really great sound.  I am very happy with mine, worth checking out also.

I use Behringer MS40s I would recommend them.... 8)
If you use your PC a lot they have 2 input channels (with seperate volumes) one for PC and one for recorders/instruments......
Also they have Volume bass and treble on the front which helps if you want em each side your PC also they are shielded ;)
They are not expensive either....
I have not used a guitar amp since I have had em :o

I've had good luck with my Tapco S8 monitors.  I believe their S5 might be something to consider price wise.  Here is a review.

Here is another.

Thanks for the extra ideas :D
Yorkville Sound, Behringer and KrK are normally readily available in the shops here from the lower cost range.
The L&M site lists pretty much what they all have available

I'll go back on a weekday and see what is around for auditioning :D

The Behringer's monitors are OK?
I was wondering about them, because I bought one of their effects pedals and the plastic pieces used in its construction make it very hard to use without cables falling out of it.

I looked up Sams Ash and they are willing to ship to Canada! If I can't find anything local.

I have these http://www.long-mcquade.com/products/5464/ and they sound great!
Not as pricey as some of the KRK's which also sound great. The thing that sold me on the M-audios was the tuned crossovers which is a nice feature for the price.

As I suspected the stock of most monitors was back out on the shelves today at normal prices.

I ended up with a pair the KrK RP-5's,
came close to getting the M-audio BX8A, only 50$cdn more for a pair of them but the massive size of those speakers was not compatible with my available desk space.
They were sold out of the M-audio BX5A's.

I'm just short 1 patch cable (yep ding-dong here should have realized 2 monitors would need 2 cables)  which I'll pick up tomorrow, then I am apparently out of excuses for not spending the time to produce anything.   :P

Thanks all for the ideas!
