Bouncing confusion

Started by bluujam, July 05, 2008, 08:46:10 AM

Hello BR Community, apologies to start with as my return key has broken. Ok I have tracks1&4v2, these i can bounce to 1 track  ??? but i also have track2v3 and track3v1, is there anyway I can bounce these tracks together. Apologies as this probably ha a very straight forward answer, but I haven't found this question before. Im guessing there is a reason for that.

Oldrottenhead

set tracks 1 and 4 to v2
track 2 to v3
track 3 to v1

all tracks should now play together, set volumes and panning to levels you like then select bounce mood and bounce to two free tv tracks for a stereo mix.
ie select tracks 1 and 2 v4 then press record and play when song has finished tracks will be bounced to v4.
go back into normal mode and select all tracks as v4, tracks 1 and 2 will have a stereo mix and you still have another two  tracks to play with. and you can bounce that to another pair of free v tracks until you runout of ideas.
hope that makes sense.

hooper gives a good idea of how its done on this post

You can bounce from two to four vtracks of song data to any empty vtrack, (or vtracks for stereo), you want. Just set up the MICRO BR to play the to-be bounced tracks the way you want them to sound, panning, everything.

Keep accurate notes of all your settings - even guitar pickup configurations, volume/tone knob positions, etc. You can use the TRACK SHEET form in the back of the manual, or make up your own.

If you are using the rhythm feature and don't want it included in the resultant bounce, turn it off and turn the rhythm volume to zero, (I find it still bleeds through a tiny bit even if just off). All you have to do is turn it back on again after the bounce to keep working on the song. Also check for effects - chances are you don't want the whole bounce/record to have an effect on it, (that comes later in the master/record).

After you're happy with what it sounds like, get into BOUNCE mode on the MICRO BR, (pg. 50). After you press the record button is when you decide where the bounced material is going to end up. I typically bounce to two adjacent tracks for a stereo result, but you don't have to. If you have, for instance, a three part harmony guitar part that you want to end up on just a single track, you may want to just bounce them to a single track. Keep in mind that some guitar effects are designed to use the whole stereo field and will sound WAY better if bounced to two tracks.

Adjust the master volume so nothing's clipping and BOUNCE by pressing the play button.

Now, VERY IMPORTANT, check the bounced result by playing back ONLY the bounced track/tracks. Set the pan of the bounce track/tracks to C00 and listen to it with and without the rhythm, etc. You may discover its too loud, or too soft, or not mixed the way you wanted, whatever, and you need to do it over. This is where the note-keeping comes in. Go back and adjust anything that needs adjusting and re-do the bounce right over the top of the not-good bounce.

When its right, you're free to add other parts and bounce away until all but two vtracks are used. You want to save two stereo vtracks for the final master.

Hope this helps bluujam.

Cheers guys this has helped me out a great deal, no doubt you'll be hearing from me again real soon  :P

I had this confusion for the first few weeks i thought the >34 meant it was going only going to record V tracks 3+4 rather than record to them.
