I love this thing!

I've been recording some backing tracks from my Line 6 guitarport and having a blast recording my guitar tracks!  I record the backing tracks on tracks 1 and 2, and them record my parts on 3 and 4.  This little machine is getting the fun back for me.  I've been playing for nearly 25 years, and sometimes you need a little kick to get excited again.

I know exactly what you mean. I am playing so much more since I bought the MBR simply because it allows me to play and record anywhere. I used to be stuck in my studio/office. Since I share that space with my wife, I wouldn't play if she was working (which is more often than not). Now if she is working I grab my guitar and MBR and go to the living room or family room. This is definitely one of the best purchases I've made.

You're soooo right about needing a "kick" to get you excited about playing again.  I too have been playing for 25+ years and when the MBR came out, I had no problem laying down ~$200.00 for it.  At the end of the work day, I now look forward to come home, hook-up this little dream come true, and jam, record, edit, create, playback, listen, tote, ... you name it!

I hope BOSS doesn't end with this version.  I can see the MBR growing and growing in future models.  Some improvements I'd like to see are:

  • Expand the capacity of the SD memory cards from 1GB to 2GB or larger
  • 4-tracks to possibly 8-tracks (64 virtual)
  • iPOD style interface
  • Larger display...(see previous bullet)
  • 500+ rhythm patterns
  • 420Mhz to 460Mhz tuning range
  • 250+ guitar effects

Am I asking for too much?  Probably so...along with a $499 price tag, right?  ;)

Yup. One can do much more and much easier on the bigger BR cousins. The one thing the MicroBR has over them is it's portability and damn it, it's just plain sexier...

If I were to get a larger machine, it would need to have multiple channel inputs like a regular mixer so i can actually DO more with it. As it is, the MicroBR fits the bill nicely.

I love my mbr too
I use my MBR as a field recorder- i use it as a "scratchpad"
and a mp3 player  too
what's not to love-
I've even used this little bugger as processor on a sit in gig recently-straight in to a small combo set on a clean flat setting-worked very nicely-in fact the little device was all the rage with the band.
i loved not carrying an amp that night btw

Indeed, the mbr is an awesome little device.  I have primarily been using it as a recorder.  I took it to camp a few weeks ago and recorded the campfire jam.  All the other folks there were really excited about all the capabilities (plugged in the acoustic and showed them the effects + rythym, playng through a small powered speaker).

I have been focusing on the editing features now, I am new to the concept of recording.  It is really cool to play a chord sequence or song, then go back and loop it or record the same with a fingerpicked pattern overtop, then a lead, vocals, etc. Haven't done any punch in's yet, but the bounce and master features are really great too. I am trying to take the time to get a grip  on all the editing, so taht when that idea hits me, I can sit down and lay down some traxs with out the distraction of the interface.

Everybody on the forum has been very helpful too, which makes it all the more enjoyable!

I love it too.

It's the funkyest bit of kit I have ever had and I spend more time with it than I do with my wife!

I can relate to that. You want to shut the MBR up you just press the STOP button  ::)
