Boss Micro BR won't record - Unformatted Message Error

Hey there guys! I'm having an huge problem and I've tried everything to solve it. I'm going to take you on a step by step trip to show what I've done 'till now with no success. Lets hope you can help me :/

One day I connected my Micro BR and when I tried to record I got the message "Unformatted!" on my screen. I turned it off and on again and this time, when the card was loading, it appeared "Unformatted!" again. I noticed I could now play normally using every effects, but I couldn't record nor listen to my previous recordings.
I connected Micro BR to my pc by USB and my card appears on My Computer but I can't open it. Windows says I have to format it before I use it. I tried to format the card but I get the message "Windows could not complete the process".
So, I decided to insert the card manually on a SD Reader and this time I could even access the card, see everything that was on it and stuff like that... I was a little shocked by this fact and started thinking that the problem was not from the card BUT from Micro BR itself. Still, I formatted the card (and it worked this time), tried it on Micro BR and... "Unformatted" appeared again on the screen.

So, the current scenario is the same that I had at the beggining. I cannot record and if I connect Micro BR by USB my card is inaccesable and I can't format it. Although, if I plug it in directly on the PC's SD Reader, I can do everything I want with it (but it doesn't work on Micro BR, so, that pointless)

What do you think I can do to solve this? Is getting a new SD Card a possible solution? Or is this a Micro BR's problem? If so, what can I do?

PS: It is possible I got some kind of virus on the system. I had one on my PC and I already got it out, but I did plug Micro BR in during that period. Still, I don't think that was a big threat.

i had a very similar problem, it transpired that a bit of plastic from a battery got wedged in the card reader. this was causing the problem.
if you have a warranty or registered your micro roland will sort it for you, but i got a friend who knows about pcs to look at it. if you have another sd card try it in it to see if you get same problem.
there is advice hwere on how to open your mbr with pics  i will try and find the link for you.

As oldrottenhead said, there's probably something preventing the memory card from making proper contact with the Micro BR. Look carefully in the Micro BR's memory card slot for dirty contacts, foreign matter (tiny piece of paper from memory card label or elsewhere), or bent/broken contacts.

Practically all viruses are written for Windows. So, even if you managed to get it onto the memory card somehow, there's no way that it can run on the Micro BR because it doesn't have Windows. Therefore, it poses no threat.

Hi Eagle:

I'm pretty sure you have done this but I have to ask, because I didn't specifically see it in your troubleshooting list - Did you initialize your memory card while it was inside the MBR? (Utility | INI) This does a full erase of the data as well.

Thanks,

Mark

I'm sorry I've been away for a long time, it's been a busy month!

Launched, I tried to initialize the card as well, it didn't work :/

oldrottenhead: I opened my microBR as you told me too and I didn't find anything unusual. So, I decided to send it to the BOSS factory since it's still on warranty. It's been a week and I haven't got a word on it, but lets see how it works out.

I'll post something when I get it back!

good luck eagle i am sure they will help you out, i had to revert back to using the original card for now, will need to source some new ones.

Micro BR's back and it's working fine. They wrote a letter telling me the problem was on the SD Reader as you thought so, but nothing was inside of it, it appears it had a scratch. I probably forced the card too much one of the times I tried to put it in and I scratched the card "input zone" of the Micro BR (I'm sorry I can't find a better term for this but I hope you can understand).

Anyway, it's fixed! Thank you for your attention.
