Hey Hoop, I must be doing something wrong so I'm going to go here step by step for clarification.

1. Put the data (music, instrument, etc.) on channels 1, 2, 3, and 4.

2. Press "exit" and "utility" at the same time on the MBR to bring up "bounce" on the display. As I understand it, it uses channels 1 and 2 as default.

3. Set panning levels L50 and R50.

4. continue to push ">" where you see V1 V1 V1 V1. This is where submix I will go.

5. Use channels 3 and 4 for additional "raw" input and bounce according to step 2 above. Follow steps 3 and 4. With the exception in step 4 being push ">" and change to V2 V2 V2 V2. For submix II and so on and on. For the potential of 8 submixes

Is this correct?
And like you said, if you hear something in the levels or whatever, you still have the data on channels 3 and 4 where you can adjust and bounce again.

I hope I didn't confuse you.

I believe you took a detour after step 2.   ;)

For a moment, maybe forget about doing 5 bounces.
Are you able to do 1 Bounce?
Are you able to Bounce the first 4 tracks down to 2 tracks (the #2 v-tracks on channel 1 and 2)?

If not, no problem. Send me a PM and I'll help you get going with it.

Awesome Hooper. When you mastered, did you use a preset Master patch or did you create a custom patch? You really got a great mix.

ok, hoop emailed me the song minus his vocals, at about midnight scottish time, i told hoop it would be wednesday before i could get to it as i go to work tomorrow and dont get back til then.

however.

once i loaded it onto the mbr,

and after a few brandys,

i had to huv a go, so i did. using the built in mic, i reassigned the effect for guitars for the mic, i think i used st. clean, although the mic is a mono source, i recorded to tracks 3 and 4 to get a stereo effect that st.clean gives you. so is only one vocal but sounds like ive doubletracked as vox pans from side to side.

hoop mibes you will want to put a backing vox  back in.
am currently mastering so next time you look song should be here.

you are so right ron, i went to bed just after i posted this last night, so didnt really have time to compare them, i thought i was doing something vastly different from hoop, what with messing with the effects etc. but after listening this morning to the songs side by side, its spooky how similar the voices are.

I dunno, I don't get that....

You're the man with da muse, Mr. Higgins.  When doing a cover, I think it's hard to not try to emulate the original.  I like the way your rendition avoids that trap.  And from an engineering viewpoint I like the way you got the stereo fx out of the mono input... a good trick to remember!

If you want to send me a mix (192 mp3) with just your stereo vox, panned hard R/L.... I'll get you a mix with the bgv's.  Want to put it on Nevermet?

Well actually, Old Jim recorded and sent me a second take on his lead vocal for Cowgirl today... And it looks like he's also recorded and posted two other vocal collabs on the same day!
Talk about power  :o

Thanks for the good work, Jim.  I think it really helps out the recording.
