Yesterday at lunchtime I was in a music store looking at Christmas specials and shiny new toys. Noting really jumped out though.

Then I came back to my desk and this email was waiting:

Your mum mentioned to me once how much you miss playing the piano. I have a digital piano i'm not using, and you're welcome to have on loan for as long as you want. it's not a tinny keyboard and you can read about it at

i promise i won't be asking for it back in the near future: on the other hand, i guarantee i'll take it off your hands if you decide you ever want to offload it. no strings attached.

it has a full wooden "cabinet" (dismantle-able) or you can just use it on a table. whatever.

I could. She is a lunatic and I haven't actually spoken to her for almost a decade. She had my sister forward the email.

I kind of feel guilty taking the keyboard but if it is just sitting and not being used ...

The CASIO CDP-100 and CDP-200R include MIDI I/O. So you could connect it to your computer and use the CASIO to control a soft synth. If your computer is reasonably fast, you'll have a lot of fun with that.

Or connect any number of MIDI instruments, the sky is the limit with this thing. You could get a DSI Mopho very reasonable price, or the slightly more powerful Tetra, control them with this keyboard and have a true 100% analog synthesizer on your hands that would sound incredible, if thats your thing.
