This was kind of a "sister song" to Colorado Cowboy, written about the same time and recorded the harp in the same session.

Hey PD - Cool tune! Sounds like an "old school"" truckin' tune.

The recording (and harp) sound really good. And that steel at the end is pretty sweet too.
Is that you on harp?
It ain't pretty being easy.

I'm getting that Neil Young vibe big time here.  This feels like one of those country type songs that NY likes to do from time to time.  You could really bring that feeling out by playing the rhythm on a Les Paul type guitar, open chords like NY does, bit of distortion.  The other thing this makes me think of is bluegeass type of country.  If you put those bluegrass harmonies and put your banjo up front here you would have a very bluegrass type song.  Bottom line, great songwriting, I like this a lot.

Thanks gang..appreciated.

Happy is good Geir. Not sure i ever wrote a "tear in my beer" song... :'(

Wiley, you got country deep in your veins. If you lived in NYC you would spend all your time in cenral park ;-)) (me too!) There is a touch of truth to the lyrics on this one..except i was the one that was drinkin' the whiskey after she left...

Vann and Satch...thanks for listening. The harp makes both songs for me as well.. It also helps that Jimmy is my best friend so when i hear it it generates good vibes for me. We had so much fun "back in the day"....

Dave, i think your comments are right on. I have listened to so many hours of Neil Young that it is subconscious. I did an album of NY covers with my brother and did just as you suggested...with the LesPaul tone. It worked. Wish i coulda got Jimmy to play some harp...that woulda been the icing on the cake! As for bluegrass...well...that is probably my favorite genre after blues...but it is much harder to play than blues. Simple progressions usually but nearly always fast and requiring highly skillful picking...no matter what instrument your on. Then there are always 2 or 3 part harmonies. I had one song on the album that these two tunes were on that i did to a bluegrass beat. I'll post it and that will be the end of this trip down the dirt roads....
Thanks or your intuitive comments and good suggestions.

Great stuff
I really like the Lyrics
and the harp lead is just perfect!

PD, this is great, very professional and great sounding vox. Good vibe on the song here and the harp is great. I'd personally prefer the stereo mix to be panned a bit wider (in terms of the way the instruments are positioned in the mix) but that's just me niggling (something to do with my name I guess....). Excellent stuff indeed.

Cheers,

Nigel
