Yes - I love it.

You are a regular John Paul Jones with that thing (I just saw JPJ at a show, and he did a sweet mando solo).

I know you built the song around the mandolin, but the songwriting and ancillary playing/singing was impeccable. Super job - Just pro, man!!!

Very very nice.

As for learning chords, couldn't you get started by just playing your guitar chords upside down (with no 5th and 6th string)?  Like this:

           G     A     B7    C     D     E     F     etc.
guitar:   3200  0022  2212  3320  2002  0221  1332
mandolin: 0023  2200  2122  0233  2002  1220  2331

I don't have a mandolin, so this isn't a tutorial, it's a question.

Tim, great job on your song! I've used and heard mandolin as spice on songs, but it's rare to hear it as the backbone of a song (at least in the rock/pop genre), and you pulled it off very nicely.

Ted, that looks about right the last time I picked up a mandolin (about 10 years ago).
