Hello;
I haven't been around the board for a while, but recently managed to collate enough spare minutes to record this:

Originally written by a friend Dave for a long since defunct band, I decided to reincarnate it on the BR-600.

Pete: Guitar Synth Solo
Me: Bass/Guitar/Keyboard/Vocals/Recording & Mixing

Any comments gratefully received.
I'm now off to catch up with all the board business I've missed  :o

I like the beat to this!!  Has ones toe tapping all the way through.  Thought your use of the panning was great!!   A very mysterious feel to this!!  I think a great production!!

Satchwood

Cool song and it does have this mysterious vibe to it !!!  Cool syn and vocal fx!!!

Hey, this is cool Gingerjack!

Thanks, had to use the thumb wheel to it's best effect for the panning. Glad you liked the mysterious feel. I was looking for something between Howard Devoto and Vincent Price for the vocals. I think I managed that ... although it is a wide target!!

Cheers. The rhythm synth is a crappy old Yamaha Home keyboard, put through a BR-600 guitar patch (overdrive I think). The solo is my mate Pete using a GT10 on guitar synth setting, recorded on a Micro-BR, exported to wav & then imported into the BR-600. I then ran it through a custom BR-600 guitar patch to get a pitch shift & a bit more ooomph (technical term).
Vocal effects are also BR-600 patches. The distorted one on the right is also a preset guitar patch. I used the built in condenser mics for all vocals, 'cause I didn't have another mic available at the time. Didn't turn out too bad though!

Vann, yes I did. I know it's not always the easiest thing to do, but I like to try & keep as much on the BR-600 as possible. I don't have a recording space, so I take the BR-600 with me to whichever room is free.

Cheers Mark. I'm not the worlds greatest musician, so I have to spend quite a lot of time on the arrangement to compensate.

Thanks all above for your feedback.

Nice one.  Really cool stuff.  I like this a lot.  Reminds me of Joy Division sorta, that kind of vibe.  Maybe its that heavy bass line or maybe the vocals, of maybe the lyrics, maybe the whole thing.  Very cool song!!!!!!!!!!!!! Great job.  Your mixing is very well done, it sounds very good.

Really good this, i too am getting Joy Division and Depeche Mode influences here, Lots of cool effects throughout the song both instrumentally and vocally, and I am going to listen to this quite a few more times.

Great job!!

Yeah, nice moody feel, great sounds... this is just the kind of music I like to have playing while I work. Good idea about the keyboard into the guitar effects, doesn't sound like some preset we've all heard a million times.

Great!
