Got my Micro BR yesterday!

I've already been able to record a simple chord progression for a song idea I've been kicking around, and lay down a nice simple drum beat with it.

My question:  how do I use a ryhthm track to play to, without recording the rhythm?

My intention is to use the rythm track to record the chords, lead and vocals, and then piece together the actual rythm track I wanna use.

Also, is there a technique that allows looping without such a hard edge between the end of a loop and the beginning of the next phrase?

Hello!

The rhythm section is being played on its own tracks. It is not being blended in with what you are recording. To make it go away, just press the Rhythm button, and then TR1(OFF). Your tracks will then be played with no drums.

If you bounce/master your tracks with the rhythm section on, the drums will be recorded with the music to the vtracks you are bouncing/mastering to.

Hope that helps,

Mark

Use Track Copy (page 53) instead of A-B Repeat.

bout looping and that "hard edge"

For example, record yourself playing your rhythm 3 times around, I play alot of blues, so Id play my 12 bars 3 times in a row. Once youve recorded this, make your loop out of your second time around...as you first has you starting off at a stand still, and you last has you holding that note, if you use the second one youve got movement and you naturally go back to your starting point from the ending...does that make sense?

I find it easy to copy my track by measure, so Id copy measure 13-25(of 12 bar blues, for example)...and start it at measure 25 to repeat as many times as youd like.

it really is amazing the lengths that people go to and it's incredible what this machine is capable of but personally i'm very much of the old school...that is, just play it right from start to end. If you can't hold your concentration for three or four minutes at a time, well....wow

I was under the impression loops were as old school as Les Paul.

They're at least as old school as The Beatles - 'Tomorrow Never Knows', anybody?

I also liked what The Tall Dwarfs did with loops...
