How does one pull EQ up on the BR?
[too much high end on acoustic]
[No booklet ,,,sorry!]
And thank's for the great feedback on this site!

This is taken from Hoopers post on the "Excerpts" post but worthy of it's own thread on EQ.

The M-BR has a great 4-band parametric equalizer. The challenge is that it's only available on one track at a time. But you've got choices: you can use it while you are recording a new track or you can use it while you are playing back a track.

Say you've already recorded two guitar tracks, on Track 2 and 3 and now realize that they need some differentiation. LOCate the Insert Effects to Track 2.
* Go to: Effects|Curser>|LOC and then press Value+ until you see Location: TRACK 2
* Select any algorithm that gives you access to the 4-band EQ (MC>P01:Ag LoCut)
* Turn off CMP, ENH and NS (that is, unless you intend to use them now)
* Make adjustments to the EQ settings while listening to Tracks 2 and 3 playing back.         The EQ changes will be heard on the guitar located on Track 2.

Then you need to do a Bounce to 'print' the equalization onto a track. You could turn off all but Track 2 and just Bounce that track to a single new track OR you could turn on Tracks 2 and 3, pan them and Bounce to a stereo pair OR you could have instruments playing on all 4 tracks and Bounce to a stereo pair.

The first opportunity to use the equalizer is when you are recording the track.
* The Insert Effects should be at Location:INPUT<NORMAL>
* Choose an algorithm that gives you access to the 4-band EQ.
* Have a strategy. Such as cut one guitar at 500hz and boost at 1.2Khz, this creates a 'pocket' at 500hz and a 'peak' at 1.2Khz.  Then when you record the second guitar do the opposite: boost at 500hz and cut at 1.2Khz.

Hey Hooper you got me thinking..
We could set up a User pattern for the EQ algorithm and save it as a quick template.

Further, we can set up several User patterns for typical instruments/arrangements.

Looking at the manual, it appears that only the Vocal Multi has the 4 band EQ but there are 17 patches to choose from in the MC (MIC) bank

So for example, I'm thinking U01 for bass (cut the highs), U02 for Guitar (cut the lows) U03 for Vox, (add mids) etc?
Probably one would need only maybe 4 or 5 presets for EQ but you could quickly EQ any track by bouncing it on it's own as you described.

Im still trying to get a handle on this EQ, thanks to the forum Ive found it, but I cant seem to get it to have any effect on what Ive recorded...and Im trying it out in bounce mode. I cant figure out what Im doing wrong?

It worked for me. There are several steps.
1. choose MC say P01 AgLoCut
2. change to U01 to create a User EQ for future.
3. EDT, turn off enh, leave EQ
4. EQ, Cursor> to choose various gains of EQ.
5. Choose the frequency center (target frequency) for Lo-M and Hi-M
6. Choose Q (how much "collateral" frequency around the target will be changed)
A note regarding Q Bandwidth Setting:
0.7=2 Octaves
1.0=1 1/3 Octaves
1.4=1 Octave
2.8=1/2 Octave
Etc up to 16 - Note the bigger the Q, the smaller the focus.
IOW if you wanted to affect a very small range of frequencies you would use a higher Q.

7. exit and save (WRT)and rename if you like.
8. Go to bounce mode and choose track to bound to.
9. Effects/ Cursor rt/ LOC/choose track that will be changed.
10. hit record.
The new track definitely changed for me. (I exaggerated the EQ to test)
