LOL no accordian! We have a wonderful show! :D

WOW! what a blast FJ!

1. I'm not a bassplayer. But I had a blast playing this!
2. Listening to more to see if I can come up with a lead, alittle ahrder
3. LOL...one should not try to use a JimDunlop medium guitar pic on a bass while trying to play 16th notes. My pic crack in the middle of the first try.

I hope it isn't too driving, its done with the squier p-bass on bass crunch. It is is busy song and a lot of fun. I bought this bass last fall it Atlanta while I was driving a over the road trucking. I think I've found a new instrument to study in this.

Hope you like it!

Nice going on the bass, Greg. I think it fits just fine.

Sounds like there's still room for some Rhodes piano... I think I'll try that.

These days I merely dabble at being old and wise.
But I swear, I used to absolutely excel at being young and stupid.

TY TY!  :D Ron and Hooper! I'm finding that the bass is a totally different animal.

Nice bass part Greg. Rowdy! I was thinking that a picked bass would be the right sound and you nailed it.

At some point I would love to have an Mp3 of the full combo for my young guys to use. After hooper's keyboard, (solo part?), etc. is added. I can't download full versions of anything from this website because of my old computer gear. Maybe someone wouldn't mind just emailing me one. Later.

You still got a Rhodes hooper? I wish I still had mine. Sold it at a yard sale years ago. I use an Alesis QS8 now. The Rhodes patches are good, but it doesn't bark when you spank it like a real Rhodes does. That thing used to really wear out my hands.

Thanks FJ, glad you like it.

Blooby

Farmjazz, I am blown away by this recording.  The tones, guitar layering, bass part, mix...it's all there.  It's always great when somebody nails the vibe of a genre.

I'm curious what liberties you took with the second guitar line as I can only recall the main melody from the original.  Question: other than the guitar (and bass?), were any other outboard effects used , or was it all from the BR?

Very enjoyable.

The B part melody, I believe, was actually covered by the Rhodes piano in the original. The guitar just continued to rapid-pick underneath it. You can find it out there and check it out.

Everything you hear, except the thunder, is pure BR. No BS! I must give credit, though, to my exceptional Ibanez guitar. That thing gets any sound I want. That's why I bought it back in '90.

You'll have to ask Greg about the bass part, but he said:
Quoteits done with the squier p-bass on bass crunch.

Blooby

Which Ibanez do you play?

I have an old Artist AR 300 that has coil taps.  It's comical how muddy the pick-ups are but great for warm jazz tones.  Maybe I'll break it out one of these days as it's been locked away for a while.

Yep FJ, I used a Suier P-Bass through the BR on Bass Crunch (Next to the very last effect setting on the MBR and I think I dropped the db to -8 or -6 and 65-70 reverb.

Blooby I do dig your piece though. When you made the disclaimer of it being a departure for you, if you really listen to it it's not. I say it's a lot of your influences on STERIODS! LOL you can hear a lot of the artists you mentioned, Ty Tabor is a great guitarist and I can hear some of his nuance in your piece.

FJ I still love your coinage of psycho-bluegrass that has to go in a book as a genre somewhere!

Everone have a great day!
